After a traffic stop in Texas, authorities have apprehended two men due to the discovery of stolen items.
The Arkansas State Police disclosed that a traffic stop was conducted by officers on a vehicle that was traveling on Highway 65, specifically near Tower Road just south of Omaha.
During a routine traffic stop, ASP Troopers stumbled upon two men in possession of unopened garage door openers, which they could not provide proof of purchase for. The labels on the openers indicated that they were from a Lowe’s store in Bentonville. Upon further investigation, it was discovered that the men were involved in a barcode-swapping scheme that spanned several states. ASP Special Agents with the Criminal Investigation Division uncovered evidence connecting the men to stolen items worth over $160,000.
Texas residents Terry White, 52, and Robert Diaz, 34, were accused of committing Felony Theft by Receiving. White, who has active warrants in Alabama, Florida, and Kentucky, was charged alongside Diaz.
Online records indicate that the Boone County Detention is currently holding both individuals.
