Early Sunday morning, the University of Chicago issued a security alert following a shooting incident outside the adult hospital’s emergency room. The incident involved three men who were shot while standing on a sidewalk. Witnesses at the scene reported that the gunshots came from a dark-colored SUV that fled towards the south on Cottage Grove away from the Medical Center. It is uncertain whether any of the victims have any affiliation with the university.
Several shootings occurred overnight, including one in which there were casualties.
On Saturday night, an exchange of gunfire in South Shore resulted in the death of a man.

Area Three detectives are currently investigating the incident and no individuals have been taken into custody at this time.

He believes that as citizens, it is our responsibility to ensure the safety of our city and not just complain about the lack of businesses and opportunities. “It’s our city, and anything that happens in it is our responsibility,” Bryant stated, adding that we need to create safe areas for businesses to thrive.
There are individuals who believe that the measures taken to put an end to violence are not sufficient.
Raul Perez, a resident of Austin, expressed his concern about the prevalence of guns in the area. “They need to put an end to this,” he said. “It’s not safe to go out at night anymore. You’re always afraid of getting shot.”
In light of the recent violence, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has released a statement expressing his condolences to the affected families and communities. The mayor stated, “Our hearts go out to those who have been impacted.”
According to Johnson, the community members will receive support from an emergency services assistance center that will be operational on Tuesday, July 9 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. The assistance center will be set up at Fosco Park, located on Racine Avenue.

On Tuesday, a new Emergency Services Assistance Center will be available to provide aid to those affected by violence during the holiday weekend.
The location for the event will be at Fosco Park, situated on Racine Avenue in the charming Little Italy neighborhood.
The opening hours for it are set from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m.
