On Friday, Kamala Harris, the Vice President, arrived in Atlanta for the first of her two visits scheduled within a week.
As part of her national Economic Opportunity Tour, the vice president is scheduled to attend a portion of the 100 Black Men of America’s 38th Annual Conference in the afternoon, where she will be delivering a speech.
During Channel 2 Action News at Noon, she arrived at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.
As she prepares for her afternoon speaking engagement at the conference, Harris is expected to arrive soon. Meanwhile, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens and Councilwoman Collier Overstreet will attend a campaign event to launch President Joe Biden and Harris’ senior citizen community campaign, Seniors For Biden.
As per the advisory for the seniors’ event, speakers will be countering the recent remarks made by former President Donald Trump that were considered as attacks on Social Security and Medicare. The event will also shed light on the current administration’s initiatives aimed at aiding senior citizens.
According to a previous report by Channel 2 Action News, Harris is scheduled to return to Atlanta with rapper Quavo early next week for the Rocket Foundation Summit. The focus of the summit is to explore ways to prevent gun violence.
