An investigation has been launched into a former Indianapolis Colts player over serious allegations related to the disappearance of his teenage son.
Authorities are currently on the lookout for a 14-year-old boy who is considered missing and endangered, according to reports from NBC Chicago. The parents of the boy backed out of a scheduled meeting with law enforcement earlier this week, prompting a search by the Indiana State Police.
Police have issued a Silver Alert on Friday for Bryson Muir, a 6’2″ tall man with 185 pounds of weight, black hair, and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing an orange Under Armour shirt and blue jeans, as per the police report.
Bryson’s father is Daniel Muir, a former defensive tackle for the Indianapolis Colts. Daniel played for the team until 2011, and his wife’s name is Kristen.
In 2008, Daniel Muir was signed by the Indianapolis Colts. Prior to this, Muir had gone undrafted in the 2007 NFL Draft and had spent his first NFL season with the Green Bay Packers. Muir played college football at Kent State before entering the NFL as a professional player.
During his time at Kent State, Muir was a standout player who started in 45 out of 46 career games. He made a name for himself by ranking third in career sacks (14.5) and seventh in tackles-for-losses (35) in the school’s history. Muir’s impressive performance on the field also saw him accumulate 198 tackles, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one interception. Initially starting as a defensive tackle, he later moved to defensive end, where he earned the prestigious First-team All-MAC honors during his senior year.
In 2002, Muir was unable to play due to the initial eligibility guidelines set by the NCAA. The following year, as a freshman, he started in the first 11 games before relinquishing his starting position to a senior in the season finale. He concluded the season with 46 tackles, 7.5 for losses, 1.5 sacks and a blocked field goal. As a sophomore in 2004, he started 11 games and recorded 48 tackles, eight for losses, and 4.5 sacks. During his junior year in 2005, he garnered Second-team All-MAC honors after starting in 11 games and amassing 52 tackles, 8.5 for losses, and three sacks. As a senior in 2006, he started in all 12 games and tallied 52 tackles, 11 for losses, and 5.5 sacks. He also seized his only career interception for five yards.
Following the 2008 season with the Indianapolis Colts, Muir’s career took him to various teams before ultimately retiring in 2013. He played for the Rams, returned to the Colts for a second stint, joined the Packers for a period, and had brief stays with the Jets, Chiefs, Texans, and Raiders.
