On Tuesday afternoon, authorities arrested a Dayton man in Cleveland who was charged with the murder of a 16-year-old boy and the pregnant mother of his child.
According to the FOX 8 I-Team, at approximately 1:45 p.m. the Ohio State Highway Patrol attempted to stop a silver Chevrolet Equinox that had been involved in an aggravated robbery on Kinsman Avenue and was reported stolen.
According to investigators, the police pursuit ensued after the driver refused to stop.
Assisted by OSHP’s Aviation unit, authorities were able to locate the vehicle on Phillips Avenue close to Lakeview Avenue. The suspect, known as Nicole Cunigan Jr. and aged 32, fled on foot into the nearby woods.
The search was conducted under the watchful eye of state troopers and Cleveland police officers who made sure to secure the area.
Around 3 p.m., authorities located Cunigan in an unoccupied residence on Osceola Avenue. They promptly arrested him and transferred him to the Cuyahoga County Jail.
Officials were able to identify Cunigan through his fingerprints and discovered that the Dayton Police Department had a warrant out for his arrest on murder charges.
According to WDTN, Cunigan has been identified as the perpetrator behind the shootings on Shaftesbury Road that resulted in the deaths of 16-year-old Deante Johnson and 32-year-old Precious Taste. It is reported that Taste was carrying Cunigan’s child at the time of the incident.
