Body found in Snake River near Idaho Falls
On Monday afternoon, a body was discovered floating in the Snake River near the Broadway bridge in Idaho Falls. The Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office received a report around 1 p.m. regarding the sighting. Emergency responders were directed to the Idaho Falls Power plant where the body had become entangled in debris, confirming the individual’s unfortunate demise.
The authorities successfully retrieved the body upstream from the power plant. According to eyewitness Michael DuMont, who first noticed the body, the incident unfolded around 12:50 p.m. while he was near a gazebo. He recounted how he initially mistook the body for a floating garbage bag before realizing the tragic nature of the situation. Nearby individuals observed the scene, with one person capturing photos before law enforcement arrived.
As of Monday evening, Bonneville County deputies are collaborating with the Coroner’s Office to determine the circumstances surrounding the individual’s entry into the water and to establish the identity of the deceased.
