Rose Marie Anderson, a member of the Houston Police Department, was recently in the spotlight when she appeared in court in Harris County following her arrest.
The alleged crime occurred at Anderson’s apartment in Houston on or around December 13th, according to court documents obtained by Law&Crime. Although the name and age of the victim have not been disclosed, it is evident from the documents that the victim and Anderson were related.
According to the criminal complaint, Anderson unlawfully and intentionally restrained the child without her consent using force, thereby significantly interfering with her liberty. Prosecutors also claim that Anderson knowingly caused bodily injury to the child by striking her with her foot.
In a motion requesting appropriate bail, prosecutors have disclosed further information regarding Anderson’s alleged offense against the 7-year-old. As stated in the motion, Anderson was the sole caregiver for the child when the incident occurred.
Authorities have stated that Anderson committed the offense with the motive of punishing the victim due to her behavior at school.
The Texas Department of Family Services informed Houston ABC affiliate KTRK that they have taken the necessary steps to ensure the safety of the victim by removing them from the home.
According to spokesperson Melissa Lanford, CPS is conducting an investigation into the abuse allegations in collaboration with law enforcement. Lanford also mentioned that the child involved has been placed in foster care, where she is currently receiving the necessary care and support.
After being processed at the Harris County Jail, Anderson was able to secure her release on Monday by posting bond of $5,000, as records indicate.
Anderson must personally attend all her court dates and is not allowed to engage in any behavior that could result in her arrest or harm the 7-year-old alleged victim.
Anderson is set to make another court appearance on January 6, 2025.
