Woman Arrested for Shooting Ex-Boyfriend in Front of Police, Leading Officers on Multistate Chase

Chioma Agurd, a 39-year-old woman, was apprehended after reportedly shooting her ex-boyfriend outside the Bellaire Police Department in Texas. This incident led to a dramatic and violent sequence of events, as Agurd then embarked on a high-speed chase spanning 22 miles across state lines, with law enforcement in pursuit.

According to credible news reports, Agurd pursued a Ford pickup truck that was carrying her ex-boyfriend and a few other individuals in Bellaire, Texas. The group, concerned for their safety, decided to drive to the Bellaire Police Department to seek assistance.

The unidentified victim suffered from several gunshot wounds and was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital in a serious condition.

High-Speed Chase Across State Lines

Alabama state troopers located Agurd’s vehicle on Interstate 65 shortly after the shooting. They engaged in a 22-mile pursuit before finally apprehending her near Pine Level, Alabama. To bring her SUV to a halt, the police deployed spike strips.

After her vehicle became disabled, Agurd initially resisted surrendering, leading to a tense standoff with officers. Eventually, she was apprehended without any additional issues and was then taken into custody and booked into the Montgomery County Jail.

Agurd is facing several charges, including felony eluding law enforcement and aggravated assault. There are also additional charges pending in Texas, such as aggravated assault of a family member and aggravated assault of a police officer.

According to officials in Harris County, Agurd will be transported back to Texas to face charges related to the Bellaire shooting if she waives extradition.
