Walmart is recalling more than 12,000 cartons of Great Value Family Size Chicken Broth due to packaging issues that may result in spoilage, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) reported.
The recall, which was initiated on December 11 and announced on the FDA’s website on January 8, impacts products that were sold in 242 stores across nine states: Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas.
The cartons subject to the recall bear a “best used by” date of March 25, 2026 and are labeled with the UPC code 007874206684. The recall encompasses a total of 2,023 cases, with each case containing six cartons.
“The health and safety of our customers is always a top priority,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a statement. “As soon as we were made aware of the issue, we took action to remove all impacted product from the select, impacted stores. We are continuing to work with the supplier to investigate.”
If you have purchased the affected product, we advise you not to consume it. It is important to discard the broth and you can also request a full refund from Walmart.
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the recall.
