HOUSTON, Texas — A somber gathering took place Saturday night near the Moonlight Inn, where Alicia Michele Strambler tragically passed away. As candlelight flickered, her parents and others reflected on her life and the qualities they would miss most.
“She loved life, had a great smile, and a laugh that was contagious,” said her mother, Michele Hedt.
The 34-year-old mother of three was discovered dead inside one of the motel’s rooms on Wednesday night, a victim of fatal abuse.
Houston police found 36-year-old Myron Strambler standing on a balcony, blood on his shirt.
“We’ve feared this day for a long time, and it finally happened,” Hedt said.
Strambler is now charged with Alicia’s murder. His criminal record includes a 2021 domestic violence case involving Alicia when the couple was separated.
“She was so terrified of him that she would do anything he asked,” said her father, Andy Rabago.
Her parents hope Alicia’s tragic story can help others while they continue to fight for justice, ensuring the father of two of Alicia’s children faces the consequences they believe he deserves.
“We don’t want anyone else to go through this,” said Hedt.
Strambler’s criminal history also includes a 2009 conviction for sexually assaulting a child in Brazoria County. He is currently being held in Harris County Jail on a $250,000 bond for the murder charge.
