Two men, both believed to be migrants, were found dead inside an Englewood apartment on Friday afternoon, according to Chicago police and a law enforcement official.
A girlfriend of one of the victims discovered them dead inside a residence in the 6100 block of South Justine around 4:20 p.m., according to the source. The Chicago Fire Department was initially alerted, and its technicians summoned police after entering the bedroom where both males were discovered.
They discovered the woman’s 45-year-old boyfriend on the floor of the second-story bedroom. According to the source, he was wearing a duct tape-secured plastic bag around his head and zip ties to confine his hands. A gun lay on the floor next to him.
First responders discovered the second male, whose age is unknown, lying on a bed in the same room. He wore gloves on his hands.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has scheduled an autopsy for both men for Saturday.
Earlier on Friday, federal authorities reported the arrest of a high-ranking member of the Venezuelan street gang Tren de Aragua in Georgia on accusations related to the January shootings of three migrant women in a South Shore alleyway. Two of the women have died.
