Two individuals from Florida face charges of fraud and identity theft for targeting an elderly woman in Texas

Two individuals from Florida have been arrested after engaging in a series of fraudulent activities targeting an elderly woman, as reported by the Friendswood Police Department. The suspects, Courtney Christian Maynard and Michele Rene Bryan, allegedly stole the victim’s purse, used her credit card, and even posed as her to gain access to her bank accounts.

The incident began on October 20, 2024, when the victim reported the theft of her purse from her vehicle, which was parked on W. Parkwood Avenue in Friendswood, Texas. The stolen credit card was then used by Maynard and Bryan at a Kroger store in Houston. The victim later discovered that her identity had been impersonated at a financial institution in Houston, leading to the withdrawal of funds and the opening of a new bank account in her name.

Investigators collected various documents and video evidence, which eventually led to the identification of Maynard and Bryan. In December 2024, the Harris County District Attorney’s Office filed charges against both suspects. Maynard, who is facing charges of Credit Card or Debit Card Abuse-Elderly, is subject to a full extradition warrant.

On the other hand, Bryan was apprehended on October 29, 2024, in Austin County, Texas, as she was caught committing identity theft and fraud. She is currently in custody at the Austin County Jail and is facing charges of Fraudulent Use or Possession of Identifying Information-Elderly. Bryan will be extradited back to Harris County to face her pending cases in Austin County.
