CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The National Hurricane Center is monitoring an area in the SW Atlantic or Northern Caribbean Sea with a 20% chance of development over the next 7 days.
This area faces a lot of Saharan Dust, indicating a dry environment not ideal for development.
Forecast models are divided on this feature’s outcome. The European model suggests potential development moving toward the Gulf or up the SW Atlantic, while the GFS model predicts no development. There’s currently little confidence in either prediction. Texans should watch this but not worry for now.
If it heads toward the Gulf, it wouldn’t arrive until August 3, 4, or 5.
