The trial for the second of three suspects in the murder of former University of Oklahoma football player Du’Vonta Lampkin began Wednesday.
Court records show Lampkin was fatally shot in a Dallas apartment in 2022.
Lampkin played as a defensive tackle for the Sooners during the 2015, 2016, and 2017 seasons. He briefly signed with the Tennessee Titans in 2018.
Prosecutors claim Antwan Franklin, who was friends with Lampkin, conspired to rob and kill him in May 2022.
Dallas Police report that Lampkin was waiting to move into a new apartment when he was killed. Franklin has since been charged with murder.
Erick Garcia, another suspect in the case, has yet to go to trial for his alleged involvement, while a third suspect was acquitted.
