Arkansas will soon host Tractor Supply Co.’s biggest distribution center yet, aimed at providing products for both local e-commerce orders and 250 stores located in the Southeast, Midwest, and Texas regions.
Tractor Supply has established its latest distribution center in Maumelle, Arkansas, situated northwest of Little Rock. The facility, which spans over 1.1 million square feet, is the company’s largest distribution center to date and is headquartered in Brentwood, Tennessee. This marks Tractor Supply’s 10th distribution center.
Hal Lawton, the CEO of Tractor Supply Co., can be seen enjoying his surroundings in the brand new distribution center located in Arkansas. The photo was shared on the City of Maumelle Government’s Facebook page.
According to Tractor Supply CEO Hal Lawton, it is imperative for their over 2,200 stores to always have the necessary items available for customers at all times. With more people adopting this lifestyle and new stores opening across the United States, the recently built distribution center in Maumelle will play a crucial role in ensuring that Tractor Supply is able to cater to their customers’ needs promptly.
The company has a strategic approach when it comes to selecting the locations of its distribution facilities. Their main goal is to reduce logistics costs and ensure that the distance between these facilities and their stores is optimized. In order to make their deliveries more efficient, they use multiple common carriers for both store and direct-to-customer deliveries. The company is able to manage its transportation costs by negotiating with carriers, monitoring transportation routes, and carefully scheduling deliveries.

Tractor Supply’s Arkansas distribution center boasts a unique feature – the utilization of autonomous mobile robots on a large scale for small-item fulfillment. The center also doubles as a testing facility for the company to experiment with the use of robotics, with the aim of reducing costs and enhancing productivity. The distribution center started receiving products in April, while shipping services to other stores and customers commenced in June.
The expansion of the company’s footprint in Maumelle has been greatly appreciated by Mayor Caleb Norris, who expressed his gratitude towards the initiative.
According to Norris, having the largest distribution center of Tractor Supply in the country is a significant achievement for their city. Norris expressed his pride in bringing an economic opportunity of this magnitude to the residents of Maumelle and the entire state of Arkansas. He believes that this partnership will pave the way for future growth and development, grounded in their shared values.
