One of the most vocal personalities in all of sports is Charles Barkley.
On the air, the former NBA player who is now a Turner Sports analyst will discuss almost anything. Although Barkley has made his political views rather apparent throughout the years, he usually stays focused on hoops while working for TNT.
Before his NBA Hall of Fame career, Barkley was a standout student at Auburn. As the 2024 presidential race approaches, Barkley has made political statements. He has stated his position rather clearly.
It’s interesting to note, though, that Barkley has changed political parties throughout his life.
Originally a registered Republican, Barkley was raised in Alabama. But in the 2000s, he made the decision to change his party affiliation and became a Democrat. However, that didn’t last that long.
Barkley ultimately made the decision to change political parties once more, and in 2008 he registered as an Independent.
Barkley has been critical of Donald Trump and has backed politicians on both sides.
According to OutKick,  Barkley stated, “Obviously, I’m not going to go around punching random strangers in the face—first and foremost.” “Secondly, anyone can cast a ballot for whoever they like. Voters are free to choose who they want to support.
I do want to say this now. I want to be absolutely clear.”You are a complete moron if you’re a Black person wearing a Donald Trump mugshot,” he added. “And because they won’t let me say what I truly want to say, I’m just saying ‘freakin’ fool. But it begins with a “f,” so you can figure it out.”
But Barkley has also attacked the Democratic Party. He thinks that during election season, they deceive Black voters.
“They enter our communities and declare that they would improve the situation. Barkley declared, “We’re going to do this, do this, do this.” Finally, we Black folks say, ‘You know, all my neighborhoods are the same except for my ability to dunk a basketball. Our educational institutions remain unchanged. Black people are dissatisfied with the Democratic Party because of this.
Although there is still time, Barkley has not yet backed a contender ahead of the election next month.
