Authorities report that a Texas lady beat a 4-year-old child for months, leaving her in severe condition. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the girl had arrived at a hospital in the Houston region on November 26.
She showed signs of abuse, prompting the sheriff’s office to open an investigation “due to the serious, life-threatening nature of the injuries,” he added. Deputies discovered that the youngster had been residing with her mother’s friend, Tameria Barnett, 30, since September. Gonzalez stated that the girl’s mother is “currently incarcerated,” although it’s not clear whether or not she’s there for an extended time.
Gonzalez asserts that her daughter has experienced near-constant abuse during that period. He expressed, “This precious little girl breaks my heart.” She allegedly endured daily beatings for months. Court documents state that Barnett struck the girl with “an unknown object,” a belt, and a cable.
As of Nov. 29, the girl remained critically ill in the hospital. McClatchy News was unable to contact Barnett’s attorney. Records show that on November 29, authorities took Barnett into custody and charged her with child injury. Despite a $100,000 bond, records show that she paid bail.
