Texas took down San Massage Spa due to suspected human trafficking

San Massage Spa shut down by Texas in light of suspected human trafficking

A San Antonio massage business on the Northside was shut down by the state this week due to suspected sex trafficking, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation announced Thursday. San Massage Spa will remain closed for at least six months following an emergency closure order that took effect on Monday, July 22.

During an inspection in June, TDLR inspectors discovered “numerous indicators” of illicit activities, according to a news release shared on July 25. Inspectors found employees wearing “provocative clothing” and an “empty cooking oil container in the kitchen area containing numerous used and open condoms.”

Additionally, pieces of lingerie were found on the premises, along with items suggesting people were living on-site. The required consultation documents for massage therapy customers in Texas were not found, and inspectors allegedly discovered the massage business was associated with illegal “sexual advertising on the internet.”
