ATLANTA – FOX 5 Atlanta has gathered more details about a teenager wanted in Texas, who is accused of shooting and killing a 70-year-old man during a carjacking in Atlanta over the holiday weekend.
Jaylen Mosley, 19, allegedly had warrants for his arrest in Harris County, Houston, Texas, when he fatally shot the man on Saturday night while attempting to steal his vehicle.
The victim, who has not been identified, was rushed to a local hospital, where he later died.
“I always saw people around here, but I never saw violence or anything like that, so it was really a surprise to me. We got too many guns, and then we’re shooting people for no reason, really,” Hermon Baaqar told FOX 5.
Baaqar, an 81-year-old regular customer of Banks Package Store, was shocked to learn that someone so young had committed such a violent crime.
“That’s a pitiful thought there. Our children are always looking around to rob us, and we the elders,” he said.
Mosley was arrested shortly after the incident. FOX 5 has since learned that the teen was a fugitive wanted in Texas.
He now faces charges including murder, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, armed robbery, and carjacking.
“They don’t understand the consequences that’s out there, and it’s too late to call mama when you in that little old room there. You ain’t got nothing but a bunk, a commode, and a sink,” Baaqar remarked.
Authorities have not identified the victim. Mosley is currently being held at the Fulton County Jail and will face a judge on Monday morning.
FOX 5 has reached out to authorities in Harris County, Texas, to learn more about what Mosley was wanted for, and is still waiting for a response.
