Texas State Troopers engage in high-speed pursuit with a 14-year-old smuggler

In Texas, State Troopers apprehended a 14-year-old smuggler and seven undocumented immigrants following a high-speed pursuit that ended in a vehicle fire on Wednesday.

During a high-speed pursuit on I-35 in Webb County, troopers were pursuing a white GMC Acadia. The driver of the GMC ran a red light and collided with a curb, causing the loss of the front passenger tire.

The driver of the GMC was forced off the road and into the brush after the trooper executed a precise immobilization technique, commonly known as a PIT maneuver.

As per the Department of Public Safety, the troopers came to the rescue when the vehicle caught fire. They managed to safely evacuate seven people from the burning vehicle.

Authorities have detained a 14-year-old smuggler who has been charged with evading arrest and smuggling people. According to DPS, the seven passengers were identified as illegal immigrants from Mexico and were subsequently handed over to the US Border Patrol.
