According to League City Police Lt. Eric Cox, initial reports indicated that Giselle Tapia-Salazar had taken her own life. However, after two weeks, authorities took into custody two individuals suspected of being involved in her death. Lt. Cox explained that due to the position of her arm, it is believed that she died elsewhere and her body was moved afterwards, with her arms remaining in the same position.
According to Hart, Tapia-Salazar had left for the bathroom in the middle of the night but failed to return. However, one of their neighbors raised doubts about their relationship, claiming that the two “fought fiercely, but also loved each other passionately,” as reported by KHOU-TV.
Authorities discovered Hart at the location of the incident. However, they reported that he became extremely upset and remained on his boat after interacting with them. In a later statement to the press, he expressed his feelings about the tragedy, describing it as “a nightmare that you can’t escape from.”
According to her brother’s statement on a GoFund Me page, Tapia-Salazar was a single mother of four, leaving behind “3 little ones for my mother and I to raise.” The page was created to help cover her funeral expenses and provide financial assistance to her family during this difficult time.
In a heartfelt message on the fundraising page, it is stated, “It brings us comfort to know that God has a plan for all of us and the only solace for our family is knowing that my beloved sister is no longer in pain.” The message goes on to explain that the funds raised will be used for giving her a proper funeral and any remaining amount will be utilized for supporting the three children she has left behind. As of now, the fund has successfully gathered $5,100 out of the targeted goal of $10,000.
