Texas Mother Faces Charges After Abandoning Toddler to Travel 150 Miles for Date

Reese Louise Myers, a 25-year-old woman, was recently brought back to Texas on a fugitive warrant. The warrant charged her with abandoning or endangering a child in July. Myers made the decision to leave her 16-month-old baby boy at home while she traveled 150 miles away to meet a man she had connected with on the dating app ‘Hinge.’

Police received a distress call regarding a child who was found hanging halfway out of a broken window that had been temporarily fixed with cardboard. The incident took place in an apartment building on the ground floor. Concerned witnesses who attempted to assist the child were confronted by two protective dogs inside the residence.

When the child was discovered, there were no other individuals present in the home. Police officers observed that the home had been arranged in a way that suggested various precautions had been taken to ensure the baby could be left unsupervised.

Myers has a history of leaving her child alone, according to a former roommate. The roommate reported that Myers would frequently leave her baby at home overnight and claimed that the child would sleep through the entire night. The roommate also observed other indications of neglect.

Myers is currently being held in the Bell County Jail.

If you suspect that someone is endangering a child, it is crucial that you take the necessary steps and report it to the police. It doesn’t matter whether the person involved is a family member, neighbor, roommate, or friend. It is imperative that you do what is right. Children rely on adults for their safety and protection. Be the person who steps up and comes to their rescue in such situations.
