Breaking News: Texas husband is in risk after his fourth marriage was revealed on Facebook

Marcus Shorten, a resident of Texas, was accused of bigamy when his current wife, Tammie, found out that he was planning to tie the knot with another woman. The discovery was made when Tammie stumbled upon a Facebook post about his upcoming wedding. This incident has led to Shorten being charged with bigamy.

According to the New York Post., Shorten tied the knot with Tammie in 2012. Although the couple separated after seven years, they never got a formal divorce. This marks Shorten’s third marriage, having gone through two divorces in the past.

Shorten finds himself in legal trouble as reports surface that he entered into his fourth marriage without properly ending his third. Although the couple had separated, they remained in sporadic contact and had even entertained the idea of finalizing a divorce.

According to Tammie, her 53-year-old spouse expressed his reluctance towards getting a divorce and his desire to seek help. “I don’t want a divorce, I’m getting me some help Tammie. I don’t want my family to think of me as a failure,” he reportedly said.

In December, Tammie was left in disbelief as she stumbled upon a wedding registry for her husband’s upcoming marriage to another woman. This unexpected discovery prompted her to confront Shorten about his intentions for the upcoming nuptial ceremony.

Tammie advised him, “Ensure your business is in order before making it public to the world,” as she recounted to KTRK.

The Post reviewed marriage records which revealed that Shorten went against Tammie’s advice and tied the knot with his new spouse on January 27, 2024, at the Fifth Ward Church of Christ located in Houston.

He has been married four times now, having tied the knot previously in 1991, 2000, and 2012. Tammie, his latest wife, reported him to the police after discovering his deceitful actions. She was aware that bigamy is a punishable offense in the United States and was rightfully outraged by his behavior.

Tammie expressed her disappointment and frustration by saying, “It’s not just about me, you know. Your actions have not only ruined my life, but also affected others who are involved in this matter. You cannot simply deceive and mislead people for your own satisfaction.”

Tammie expressed her disappointment and feeling of betrayal towards her husband, who despite having gone through several marriages, seemed to lack an understanding of the concept of divorce.

The court records reviewed by The Post indicate that Shorten has been accused of bigamy, however, he has not been arrested yet. When asked about the charge of bigamy, Shorten denied being married to anyone and stated that he was not aware of any such accusation, as reported by KTRK.

The maximum prison sentence that he could face, if found guilty, is 10 years.
