Texas Gulf Coast Experiences the Return of Clear Water

Hurricane Helene Leaves Galveston Water Crystal Clear

Now is the ideal time to head to the  Texas coast if you’ve been waiting for the perfect opportunity. The crystal-clear blue waters have been confirmed from Galveston to Surfside Beach, Texas.

The islands’ water appears to be remarkably clear in a TikTok post that daddyshawnsshared. This marks a significant contrast to the typically murky brown water observed on Texas beaches.

On a sunny and clear day like today, the water reflects the vibrant blue color of the sky. Its clarity enhances the vividness of its hue, creating a stunning visual display.

The water in the Gulf of Mexico appears murky black to coffee brown primarily due to sediment from the mouth of the Mississippi River. It is comparable to a backflush for the pool, similar to the recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene on the other side of the gulf.

Unfortunately, this phenomenon doesn’t occur more often during the summer months. However, when autumn arrives, a persistent south wind blows in clearer and saltier water. It’s a shame that this occurrence is not more frequent throughout the year.

During this time of year, there is a noticeable decrease in sediment flowing from the mouth of the Mississippi. The diminished rainfall in the states that contribute to the river’s runoff results in clearer waters reaching the Gulf of Mexico.
