Swiss authorities apprehend multiple drug traffickers in Verbier operation

Swiss police made a significant arrest on Tuesday, capturing 15 drug traffickers who were operating in the vicinity of the Verbier mountain resort. This operation marks the largest sweep in the Valais canton to date, highlighting the authorities’ commitment to combating drug-related activities in the area.

Fifteen French nationals have been implicated in a large-scale drug trafficking operation, according to a thorough investigation spanning several months. The suspects are believed to have been involved in the sale of significant quantities of illicit substances, including over 10 kilograms of cocaine, as well as smaller amounts of ketamine, ecstasy, and cannabis. Law enforcement authorities have already seized a portion of these drugs.

The Valais police statement highlighted the unprecedented scale of the arrests and seizures, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing investigations. It also emphasized that the investigations are still ongoing and are expected to result in more arrests.

Verbier, located in the southern French-speaking canton, is renowned as one of the most expensive ski resorts in the world. This charming Alpine village not only offers breathtaking slopes but also boasts a vibrant party scene that is equally famous.

According to the police, drug use is not limited to the Verbier area alone. They have observed an overall increase in cocaine consumption across the canton.
