Erica Gaines referred to her sister, Leslie Gaines, as “an angel on earth,” according to DC News Now.

On Monday, a tragic incident took place as Leslie Gaines, aged 55, who was fondly called “Amy” by her loved ones, lost her life in a carjacking followed by a crash as reported by officials of the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD).

According to reports, Kayla Kenisha Brown, a 22-year-old individual, reportedly got into the Mazda SUV where Leslie Gaines was seated. The incident took place just after Leslie’s physical therapy session, which she had undergone to manage her multiple sclerosis (MS) condition.

In an interview with DC News Now, Erica Gaines expressed her shock over the loss of her sister, emphasizing the kind of person she was.

According to her, Leslie Gaines was someone who preferred to keep to herself and was quite reserved.

She expressed her disbelief, saying, “I can’t believe something like this would happen, not even in a million years.”

Upon receiving a call from her sister, Erica Gaines was informed that her niece’s car had been stolen. The incident occurred after her niece had left the car running during their visit to the MedStar Washington Hospital.

She expressed her concern, saying, “I dialed her number, hoping for her to answer my call. However, it struck me that my repeated attempts to reach her might put her safety at risk.”

According to court records, Erica Gaines’ daughter informed the police that she sought help from hospital staff to assist in getting her mother out of the car while they were at the emergency room.

According to authorities, the U.S. Attorney’s office was hit by Brown’s Mazda, resulting in the unfortunate death of Leslie Gaines, who later passed away at the hospital.

According to Erica Gaines, her sister possessed a heart of gold.

Erica Gaines fondly remembers her loved one as someone who truly cherished life. According to her, the late individual embodied qualities such as love, generosity, and kindness. “Those are the words, anything good that you can think of,” Erica shared.

According to her sister, Leslie Gaines was in the process of learning to walk again after using a wheelchair.

She said that despite having MS, it did not have control over her.

Leslie Gaines’ passing has not only impacted her family, but also her friends, according to a statement.

Erica Gaines recounted how her niece had collapsed to the ground, while she herself had simply walked away from the scene.

Brown was bombarded with numerous questions from Erica Gaines.

She asked why the woman wasn’t released and why they continued to move forward.

Leslie Gaines’ memory will be cherished, as stated by her.

“She was truly an angel on earth and there could not have been a better person,” she expressed, hoping to keep the memory of her loved one alive.
