Houston, TX – A Texas woman has been arrested and charged with abuse of a corpse following an incident at a local fast food restaurant. Authorities report that the woman locked herself in the restaurant’s restroom for hours, where she gave birth. Tragically, the newborn was rushed to a hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Officials stated that an autopsy will determine the cause of death, and charges may escalate if it is confirmed that the woman harmed the child.
During their investigation, authorities uncovered that the woman allegedly tried to flush the newborn down the toilet after delivering the baby. The incident came to light when a restaurant employee called 911, reporting suspicious activity. Responding officers detained the woman and initiated a detailed investigation. According to reports, she had entered the restaurant around noon and remained there until 1 a.m. before entering the restroom.
A restaurant employee, whose identity has not been disclosed, told investigators he checked on the woman multiple times, offering her water and expressing concern. The witness noted unusual noises coming from the stall. Hours later, after the woman was asked to leave the restroom, she exited the stall. Upon inspection, the employee discovered the newborn and immediately alerted authorities, as reported by Express News.
First responders determined that the woman had attempted to flush the baby down the toilet but failed. Officials released a statement describing how emergency personnel had to “physically retrieve the baby from the toilet’s U-trap drain.” Medical staff confirmed the woman was 30 weeks pregnant at the time of delivery. The baby reportedly suffered head injuries consistent with being forced into the drain, according to the affidavit.
The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities awaiting autopsy results to determine the next steps.
