More information has emerged in the case of a missing child, who has been gone for over two years after her mother reportedly handed her over to a drug dealer.
The Moore Police Department in Oklahoma has recently provided an update regarding the arrest of Ashley Rowland, 39, on charges of child abandonment. In their initial statement, the authorities did not disclose the child’s name or share any photographs. However, they have now decided to reveal this information to the public.
The police have identified the little girl, London Kerr, who was last seen in April 2022 when she was just 2 years old. Along with the identification, the police have also shared a photo of London Kerr (shown above, on the right).
According to the Moore Police Department, they have conducted extensive searches on various properties, storage units, and electronic devices in connection to Rowland’s arrest. The purpose of these searches is to find any evidence that could help identify London or provide information about her location. The department is particularly interested in locating London’s birth certificates, social security information, clothing, toys, or any other items that could assist in the investigation. This information was reported by the Moore Police Department, as mentioned in USA Today.
The Moore Police Department has made every effort to find London within our jurisdiction and intends to press further charges connected to the disappearance of London Kerr. In addition, they have enlisted the assistance of the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to collaborate on the case.
The authorities have also included the child’s information in the National Crime Information Center. It has been reported that Roland has been released from jail after posting bail.
London Kerr’s Disappearance
Rowland faced charges in early November.
The investigation into Rowland commenced in April 2023 when the Oklahoma Department of Human Services made an attempt to gain custody of the child, as stated in a probable cause affidavit filed on November 1, as reported by KOCO.
Rowland allegedly informed the police that Carlos might be the father of the girl, although she wasn’t completely certain. She mentioned that she had not seen either of them since April 2022 and that Carlos had intentions of going to Mexico.
The woman allegedly had no knowledge of the man’s surname and provided no distinctive characteristics that could assist the authorities in finding him.
According to KTUL, she also claimed that she was under the influence of drugs when she gave the girl away.
The Department of Homeland Security expressed deep concern and empathy for the heartbreaking and unimaginable situations described in this affidavit. They emphasized that, just like the entire community, Oklahoma Human Services is deeply troubled by the safety of this child.
The agency expressed gratitude to its law enforcement partners for their ongoing efforts in locating her and seeking justice in her disappearance. They emphasized their commitment to supporting these efforts as necessary.
