OKLAHOMA CITY — A 19-year-old has been charged with murder following a police chase that ended in a fatal crash on Nov. 30.
Larness Morgan collided with another vehicle while fleeing from authorities. Court documents reveal Morgan was heavily intoxicated and speeding at over 70 mph in a 35 mph zone.
Patricia Marse lost her life when Morgan’s car struck her vehicle near Southwest 29th Street and Agnew Avenue.
“She was a loving and caring person. She has grown a lot over the past few years from the person she was and has done a lot better,” said Whisper Mosher, Marse’s niece.
Morgan faces charges including first-degree murder, eluding police, and driving under the influence.
“The person that was in question of causing this disturbance simply drove past police in a very erratic manner,” stated Master Sgt. Dillon Quirk of the Oklahoma City Police Department.
The incident began when police responded to reports of a man in a Chrysler 300 creating a disturbance near Southwest 28th Street and Agnew Avenue. Witnesses said he was picking fights and performing burnouts on the street.
When officers arrived, Morgan fled in the car, but his escape was short-lived. He crashed into an SUV, flipping it multiple times. Marse, who was inside the SUV, was ejected and later pronounced dead at the hospital.
According to court documents, Morgan admitted to consuming five to seven shots of alcohol before his arrest.
