A routine traffic stop by a deputy from Constable Mark Herman’s Office on July 30 led to the arrest of a wanted fugitive in Harris County.

The incident occurred on the 900 block of FM 1960 Road West, where Gerald Smith was apprehended after the deputy pulled him over, according to a social media update from the Constable’s Office.

During the stop, it was revealed that Smith had an outstanding felony warrant from New Jersey. His status as a wanted individual was uncovered during the investigation, leading to his arrest and booking into the Harris County Jail.

Constable Mark Herman’s Office issued a brief statement about the incident: “Gerald Smith was arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail for the open warrant. His bond and court information have not been set at this time.” Future proceedings and the possibility of extradition to New Jersey will be determined as the justice system moves forward with Smith’s case.
