Police arrest one person as a fight breaks out in downtown Colorado Springs

A night out turned sour for a man as he ended up in the county jail in Colorado Springs, according to reports.

According to reports, as the bars were closing for the night around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, officers in Springs were patrolling downtown when they witnessed a fight break out near the intersection of South Nevada and Pikes Peak.

According to a lieutenant from the CSPD, as the officers were approaching these individuals, the suspect took out a handgun from his waistband.

As soon as the officers ordered the man to release the weapon, he followed their command. However, he attempted to escape right after, which resulted in an unfortunate outcome.

The lieutenant stated that the suspect was tased and apprehended after a short foot pursuit.

At present, El Paso County jail is holding 23-year-old Armonee Banks, who has been identified as the suspect in the case.
