A man from New Jersey attempted to cross the George Washington Bridge while holding a woman and a child in his car during what the police referred to as a “domestic violence abduction.” However, he was apprehended and detained after the woman relayed their location information to 911 dispatchers.
According to the township police, the woman spoke in a cryptic manner and discreetly conveyed information about their destination while sitting in the backseat with the child.
During rush hour traffic at around 5:45 p.m., officers pulled over the car on the toll plaza after spotting it on Route 80 as it was driving toward the lower level of the bridge.
The woman and child were safely escorted by the police, and thankfully, they were unharmed.
Port Authority has charged Chukwuebu D. Emegoakor, 39, with kidnapping, criminal restraint, terroristic threats, endangering another person and false imprisonment. Currently, he is being held in Bergen County Jail.
