A woman from western Pennsylvania has spent the past year looking for a $2.5 million winning lottery ticket she left in the pocket of a jacket she donated.
Mildred Simoneriluto, 76, of Monroeville, told WTAE that she purchased the ticket at a Shop n’ Save last May but did not realize it was a winning ticket until two weeks later.
“I was stupefied; there are no words for it, there’s no expression. How can I get it back,” she told the news outlet.
The prize at stake is a Cash 5 ticket with the winning numbers 14, 22, 33, 35, and 38. It expires on May 8.
She stated that the ticket was in the pocket of a jacket she donated to Vietnam Veterans of America, which distributes gifts across the United States.
Lottery officials informed her she needed to have the ticket in her possession to receive the reward, but Simoneriluto told the channel that whoever discovers the ticket might claim it for herself.
