Oklahoma City, OK – A woman from Oklahoma, identified as Kimberly, is behind bars and facing multiple charges of child abuse after prosecutors say she mistreated several children in her care over the course of a decade. The 60-year-old woman was reportedly hired by the victims’ parents to run a treatment center for children with Reactive Attachment Disorder, a condition where children fail to form healthy relationships with their caregivers, often due to neglect or mistreatment.
The investigation began last year when multiple children told Oklahoma Department of Human Services (DHS) investigators that the woman had beaten them, starved them, and forced them to engage in inappropriate activities. Police officials revealed that the woman had found parents needing help with their children through social media and a local mental health professional. It was also discovered that she had no license or formal training in dealing with children with Reactive Attachment Disorder.
Authorities found that the children were brought to the woman by their parents, who paid her to care for them. Unfortunately, the victims were forced to sleep on the floor without clothing or blankets and were punished by being starved. The woman kept the food locked in the fridge and cabinets, and none of the children were allowed to access it.
The investigation further revealed that the woman frequently denied the children baths and limited their bathroom access at night. One child reported that the woman threw her into the tub, causing her to hit her head and suffer an injury. The child also stated that the woman attempted to drown her but was stopped by someone else.
Authorities also learned that the woman would throw food outside for the children, but her pets would always eat it first. Some of the children were forced to live outside, drinking water from a pond and eating wild onions. Police officials reported that the woman also made the children clean her sewage system with their bare hands. On one occasion, she allegedly stabbed a child in the leg for not washing dishes properly.
The 60-year-old woman is currently being held on a $250,000 bond, with her next court appearance scheduled for next week, according to court records.
