Over $15 million in drugs and cash seized during I-70 traffic stops

Two of the largest recorded drug seizures in Ohio’s history have recently taken place along Interstate 70 in central Ohio.

In just four days, the Ohio State Highway Patrol and a state drug task force joined forces twice to carry out two significant drug busts.

On August 3, task force agents and troopers stopped a commercial truck on Interstate 70 in Madison County and seized 300 pounds of methamphetamine, 17.6 pounds of cocaine, and 30 pounds of marijuana. The narcotics’ entire street value was around $14.6 million.

On August 6, authorities pulled over a second commercial vehicle along I-70 in Clark County, seizing more than $935,000 in money.

The Attorney General’s Office stated the methamphetamine and cash seizures were among the state’s greatest. In comparison, the narcotics task forces confiscated 349 pounds of methamphetamine in 2023.
