OSBI Offers $5,000 Reward in Unsolved Homicide

The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation is offering a $5,000 reward for information about an unsolved homicide in eastern Oklahoma.

The incident occurred nearly a year ago, on January 1, 2024, when emergency crews responded to a house fire in Tuskahoma, Latimer County. Inside the burning home, they found the body of 92-year-old John Edward Welsh. An autopsy later revealed that, in addition to burns and smoke inhalation, Welsh had suffered blunt-force trauma to the head. Investigators also discovered that shortly after the fire was reported, a vehicle fire occurred a few miles away, where Welsh’s 2019 Toyota Prius was also burned.

Anyone with information regarding Welsh’s death is urged to contact the OSBI at tips@osbi.ok.gov or 1-800-522-8017.
