On Sunday, members of Oklahoma City’s lowrider community came together to honor and remember a man they regarded as a pillar of their community.
Car enthusiasts participated in a cruise to pay tribute to Tony Ganther, who was tragically found dead at his Del City auto body shop. They expressed that his death marked the loss of a key figure in their circle.
Car owners shared with KOCO 5 that Ganther had been deeply involved in the community, contributing his skills from painting cars to installing hydraulics.
Del City police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, which occurred on November 9 when he was found shot at his shop.
The loss has been an emotional time for both Ganther’s family and the lowrider community, which turned out in full force on Sunday to honor him.
“He was the friendly, everybody’s friend. ‘I’m going to do what I can for you.’ This is big, this is large, very large,” said Lalonda King, Ganther’s sister.
“Tony has been a big part of the community since he was, from what I know, a child,” added Val Gonzalez, from the Rollerz Only International Car Club.
“Tony was a brother to all of us. He was a great person. He never had a mean argument, nothing negative to say about anybody. He would literally come out in the middle of a snowstorm if you needed help,” said Skylar Didier from Twisted Concepts.
Del City police confirmed that no arrests have been made in connection to Ganther’s death.
Ganther’s family urges anyone with information about his death to reach out to the Del City Police Department to help bring them the closure they need.
