A widespread severe weather outbreak is forecast to begin tonight throughout most of western and central Ohio, posing major risks to life and property.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, the most dangerous storm window is from 9 p.m. Tuesday to 3 a.m. Wednesday, while activity could start as early as 7 p.m. and persist until 5 a.m. The main risks include damaging straight-line winds, tornadoes, giant hail, and isolated flash flooding.
Cincinnati, Dayton, Wilmington, and Columbus are all in a Level 3 (Enhanced Risk) severe weather zone, making them the most vulnerable areas. The red-shaded zone on the storm map indicates where tornadoes are most likely to form overnight. Residents are asked to secure outdoor goods, charge gadgets, and turn on weather alerts before the storms approach.
A second, longer-term concern is a multi-day flooding outburst predicted for Thursday through early Sunday. Rainfall totals in parts of Ohio might reach 6 inches, with severe flooding and river increases forecast statewide by the weekend.
Officials emphasize the significance of remaining weather-aware and following local updates as conditions change.
