Ohio ranked for patriotism in the July 4th investigation

According to a recent ranking, Ohio has been identified as one of the states with lower levels of patriotism across the nation. This finding comes as a concern for many Ohioans.

According to WalletHub’s 2024 Most Patriotic States in America ranking, Ohio has been given a score of 43.71 and ranked as the 29th most patriotic state in the U.S. This marks an improvement from last year’s ranking of 31st with a score of 38.65, and a return to its 2022 rank when it also placed 29th with a score of 40.51.

WalletHub has recently released a report that evaluates the patriotism levels of each state in the United States. The study analyzed various metrics, including the average number of military enlistees, the number of veterans per 1,000 adults, and the percentage of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election. Each state was given a score out of 100, with a higher score indicating a higher level of patriotism.

WalletHub analyst Cassandra Happe stated that the states with the highest level of patriotism have a significant number of residents who serve or have served in the armed forces, a high voter turnout during elections, and a large portion of the population actively volunteering with national or local organizations. She further added that patriotism is not limited to any specific area, and the top-ranking states are located in diverse geographic regions.

According to recent rankings, Virginia has once again secured its spot as the most patriotic state in the United States. Following closely behind is Alaska in second place, with Montana, Maine, and Oregon rounding out the top five. However, for the third consecutive year, Arkansas has been deemed the least patriotic state.

Ohio shares its border with Michigan, while Indiana and Kentucky border the state to the east and west respectively. West Virginia is located to the south of Ohio, while Pennsylvania is to the east. In terms of rankings, Michigan placed 34th, Indiana placed 45th, Kentucky placed 33rd, West Virginia placed 41st, and Pennsylvania placed 40th.

According to recent data, the states with the highest percentage of adults who participated in the 2020 presidential election are New Jersey, Minnesota, and Oregon. On the other hand, Arkansas, West Virginia, and Oklahoma have the lowest voter turnout. Moreover, Georgia, Alaska, and Texas have the highest average number of military enlistees, while North Dakota, Vermont, and Rhode Island have the lowest.

According to WalletHub’s research, blue states exhibit more patriotism than red states.
