Officials say officers shot and killed an armed Woodbridge man during an overnight barricade

In Prince William County, a man who was reportedly armed barricaded himself in a home, and authorities were forced to shoot and kill him.

A man who was allegedly armed and had barricaded himself inside a home in Prince William County was shot and killed by authorities.

At 8:20 p.m. on Wednesday night, officers were dispatched to the 3400 block of Caledonia Circle in Woodbridge to investigate a report of a suicidal individual. This marked the beginning of the incident.

Afterward, it was discovered that the individual had visited a friend’s residence located in the 3000 block of Bromley Court.

Throughout the night, officers made several attempts to persuade the man to surrender safely. However, they were unsuccessful. At approximately 5:30 a.m. on Thursday, officials engaged with the man and ultimately shot and killed him. Additional information regarding the specific details of the shooting have yet to be disclosed.

According to authorities, the incident did not result in any injuries to law enforcement officials or civilians. As of now, there is no ongoing threat to the community.

The authorities are currently carrying out an ongoing investigation.
