New York police officers search for ‘MAGA’ truck involved in hit-and-run
The Westmoreland Police Department in New York is seeking assistance from drivers who witnessed a hit-and-run incident in locating the responsible driver.
The driver of a white Toyota Tundra truck was heading south on Route 223 when they decided to overtake another vehicle. Meanwhile, the vehicle they were trying to pass was getting ready to make a right turn into a parking lot designated for the post office.
The car on the shoulder was hit by the truck, causing damage to the passenger-side quarter panel and headlight. Although the driver was not injured, they were taken by surprise.
A surveillance camera captured the moment when a truck drove into the Westmo Car Wash parking lot. A man in his middle age, who appeared to be white, stepped out of the vehicle to assess the extent of the damage. Interestingly, the Toyota Tundra lacked a license plate on its front, and the one on the rear was obscured by dirt.
The white truck, adorned with a red tailgate displaying ‘MAGA’ in bold white letters, should serve as a distinguishing feature for identification purposes. Despite observing the truck, the driver chose to depart the scene without reaching out to the victim.
If you have any information related to the case, please reach out to the New York State Police at Troop D Headquarters at 315-366-6000, as reported by CNY Central.
The man may face charges for unsafe lane changes, driving on the shoulder of a controlled access highway, operating a motor vehicle without an inspection certificate, and leaving the scene of a property damage accident.
