New York Army National Guard launches new recruiting campaign

The Army National Guard of New York has initiated a fresh campaign to expand their manpower by educating the community about their mission and the commendable tasks they carry out.

Dating back to 1636, the National Guard’s origins predate America’s declaration of independence. Initially formed as civilian soldiers to safeguard families and towns against potential attacks, the National Guard continues to play a vital role in protecting our nation, both domestically and internationally.

Sergeant Jonathan Dudley from the National Guard stated, “We jump on those deployments and go overseas if there’s a big federal mission. In case of state active-duty missions or natural disasters, we are the ones who get called out, and we are always prepared at a moment’s notice.”

Members of the National Guard undergo a rigorous training program for two days every month, in addition to a two-week annual training session. With over 130 different job options to choose from, the National Guard provides its members with the opportunity to serve their country while still maintaining a healthy work-life balance.

Sgt. Dudley emphasized that as members of the military, they not only have their duty to serve but also their personal lives at home as citizens. He stressed the importance of being prepared to don their uniform at a moment’s notice, despite their responsibilities outside of the military.
