Authorities in Marshall County, Mississippi are currently searching for a suspect involved in a shooting incident that took place on Wednesday along Old Hudsonville Road in Holly Springs.
An argument over who owned a vehicle led to a shooting incident that left a 23-year-old man injured outside a residence.
“I’m terrified,” said the mother of the victim, who did not want to be identified. “I never been in a situation like that. I can’t get over it. I’m still shaking.”
The victim, who still has a bullet lodged in his leg, declined to appear on camera but is currently recuperating.
Authorities are currently searching for Tyrell Battle, who arrived at the house alongside his sister Jani Battle, in order to resolve a dispute regarding a vehicle. It has been reported that the vehicle in question was co-owned by the victim, who is Jani’s ex-boyfriend, and the woman herself.
“They have a car, he have a car,” the victim’s mother said. “She co-signed so she wanted to get the car cause she co-signed for it. It was all about her getting the car back. We didn’t expect this to go this far.”
She hadn’t anticipated the arrival of the siblings, nor had she expected Tyrell Battle to be armed with three weapons. Despite the circumstances, she made every effort to de-escalate the situation and prevent anyone from getting harmed.
“And he was like ‘F you and your family.’ He said, ‘All ya’ll gonna die’ and he just started shooting, and we all ran in the house and he shot my son in the leg, but the rest of us didn’t get hit.”
Numerous rounds were fired on Wednesday during the incident, leaving a multitude of evidence markers scattered across the front yard. Although two bullets shattered the front window, fortunately, no one inside the house was injured.
“My husband could have came home and planned a funeral for his entire family because we all was here, other than him,” the woman said.
Jani Battle was apprehended on Wednesday after both suspects fled the scene. However, Tyrell Battle is still on the run.
