Being pulled over by the police for a traffic stop is a common occurrence for many drivers. While these interactions are typically brief, there are individuals who make attempts to flee from law enforcement. A recent incident in Michigan resulted in a high-speed police pursuit. As a result, the 19-year-old suspect is currently in custody on an $11,000 bond and is potentially looking at a 10-year prison sentence.
The man evaded the traffic stop, got arrested, and is now banned from that area
Patch reported that on March 12th, police officers in Berkley, Michigan attempted to stop a Ford Fusion near 12 Mile Road for a routine traffic stop. Instead of pulling over, the driver decided to evade the police and accelerated towards 11 Mile Road, initiating a high-speed chase. Throughout the pursuit, law enforcement officers witnessed the driver throwing a firearm out of the vehicle.
The officers kept chasing the car to pull it over for a traffic stop. Despite their efforts, the driver chose not to stop and ended up in Royal Oak, Michigan. After some time, the police managed to surround the Ford Fusion, leading to the arrest of a 19-year-old man. He is currently held at the Oakland County Jail with bail set at $11,000.
After being pulled over and engaging in a high-speed pursuit, the man is now facing charges for third-degree fleeing from the police, carrying a concealed weapon, and driving with a suspended license. The fleeing charge alone could result in a five-year sentence, while the weapon violation carries a similar potential penalty. A hearing has been set for March 21st. In the meantime, the 19-year-old has been prohibited from Berkley and Royal Oak, except for official court matters.
