What exactly is Salmonella?

What is the reason for avoiding foods that may be contaminated with the potentially lethal bacteria? The Food and Drug Administration has identified a variety of symptoms that may indicate Salmonella exposure. Consequently, it is always preferable to be cautious than to be regretful.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, Salmonella infection is typically characterized by diarrhea-like symptoms that can manifest between six hours and six days following exposure.
