After evading authorities for a span of two years, Kyle Andrew Coolack, aged 39, has been apprehended by the Iowa police.
In 2022, a tragic incident occurred in Houston, Texas, where a man was accused of killing his younger brother. The shocking news reached the small town of Pomeroy in the northeast part of the Hawkeye State, located approximately 1,000 miles away from the crime scene. A concerned resident promptly contacted the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office around 7:14 a.m. on Sunday, informing them that Coolack had confessed to the murder in the presence of others within their household. Faced with such a horrifying revelation, they asked Coolack to leave, after which he started his journey southward towards Fort Dodge.
A deputy encountered the suspect on foot along Highway 4 and apprehended him. Initially, the suspect provided the deputy with a false identity but later confessed to his real name. Law enforcement officers verified that he had a warrant for his arrest in connection with the murder of his brother, Brad Coolack, on March 11, 2022.
A pastor accused of first-degree murder in the shooting death of a man he believed was having an affair with his wife has been granted the opportunity to post a $30,000 bond and be released from jail.
During the investigation, law enforcement officers spoke with a nearby resident who reported hearing a heated argument between two men moments before the incident occurred. One of the individuals involved was overheard accusing the other of having an affair with his wife. The dispute escalated rapidly, resulting in gunshots being fired. As part of their inquiries, detectives approached the ex-wife of the victim, who acknowledged engaging in an extramarital relationship with her brother-in-law, Kyle Coolack, during her husband’s deployment overseas. These details were corroborated by information provided in the affidavit.
According to police investigators, it was discovered that Kyle Coolack had reportedly made a threat towards a co-worker in May 2021. He took a selfie while holding a 9 mm handgun, the same type of weapon that was used to fatally shoot Brad Coolack. The selfie was then sent to the co-worker. Inside the apartment, law enforcement found an empty case for a 9 mm gun. Records indicated that Kyle Coolack had purchased the firearm in March 2021.
A warrant for his arrest was issued on July 15, 2022, after an individual reported him. The informant, speaking to southern Minnesota CBS/Fox affiliate KEYC, revealed that Kyle Coolack had been pretending to be a veteran in need of assistance, which led to the individual offering him a place to stay. However, that changed when the confession came to light. Presently, the defendant is in the Carroll County Jail, awaiting extradition to Houston.
