Man from Houston arrested and accused of murder in shooting incident at apartment complex

On November 16th, a fatal shooting occurred at a local apartment complex in Houston, Texas. Akeem Boothe, aged 42, has been arrested by the police in connection with the incident.

According to the Houston Police Department (HPD), Boothe was arrested at the scene of the crime, which took place at 5610 Royal Palms Street around 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. He is now facing murder charges and has been charged in the 262nd State District Court.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting at an apartment complex and found a 37-year-old man with a gunshot wound. Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is currently working on confirming the victim’s identity.

According to detectives G. Rangel and H. Montealegre from the HPD Homicide Division, witnesses reported seeing the victim engaged in a verbal dispute with another man before the shooting took place. The situation escalated when the man, known as Boothe, allegedly retrieved a firearm from his apartment and shot the victim on the staircase of the building.

Boothe has been charged and is currently held in Harris County Jail following discussions with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. A news statement has been released, including an official booking photo of Boothe.

The HPD has chosen not to reveal any additional information at this time, as they are still conducting their investigation. They are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward and provide any relevant information.
