A 22-year-old man convicted of murdering a Phoenix teenager in 2021 died this week in a Pinal County prison.
The Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Reentry (ADCRR) reports that Dupree Rollins died on Sunday in the La Palma Correctional Center in Eloy.
Rollins was serving life for a murder that took place nearly four years ago in an apartment complex near 27th Avenue and Indian School Road. On July 20, 2021, 18-year-old Rollins shot 16-year-old Romeo Perkins ten times.
Rollins was quickly apprehended and charged with Perkins’ murder. He pled guilty to second-degree murder and other crimes in February 2023 and was imprisoned at Eloy the following month.
ADCRR officials did not disclose the circumstances or cause of his death.
