Raymond Bernard Borden Jr. is potentially looking at a 99-year prison sentence due to the unfortunate death of Tina Kelley. Moreover, he has been handed a 10-year sentence for driving under the influence during the 2023 Jeep Weekend, which occurred mere hours after the tragic incident.
In the early morning of May 21, 2023, a woman flagged down Galveston County Sheriff’s Office deputies to report an incident. She claimed that a man driving a maroon Dodge truck had rear-ended her before fleeing the scene. This information was provided by investigators.
The individual was taken into custody and faced charges of driving while intoxicated (DWI) due to a blood alcohol concentration (BAC) of 0.314. This BAC level exceeded the legal limit by over three times.
When deputies arrested Borden for driving while intoxicated, they discovered incriminating evidence. In his pants pocket, they found a spent shell casing, indicating his involvement in a violent incident. Furthermore, his shoes were stained with the victim’s blood, providing further proof of his culpability. Even the money in his pocket was tainted with traces of the crime.
The authorities discovered the murder weapon inside the truck that Borden was driving at the time of his arrest.
He admitted to authorities that he had been drinking every day for years and couldn’t remember anything that happened that night.
After less than an hour of deliberation, the jury reached a verdict on the murder and DWI charges.
