Man Apprehended After Police Suspect Foul Play In The Death Of Akron 12-year-old

An investigation found that foul play was involved in the death of an Akron 12-year-old on Saturday.

According to an Akron Police Department press release, police rushed to the 100 block of South Balch Street around 2:30 p.m. for a report of a cardiac arrest.

When first responders came, they discovered a 12-year-old child unresponsive and rushed him to the hospital.

The police later declared him deceased.

According to a press release, authorities discovered foul play throughout their investigation.

Police arrested Anthony McCants, 23, a man acquainted with the 12-year-old’s family.

McCants was charged with felony child endangerment.

Police stated that the inquiry is still ongoing.

Akron Municipal Court will arraign McCants at 9 a.m. on Monday.
